Industrial Solar GmbH gains growth financing from CENTROTEC Sustainable AG as new shareholder

Freiburg / Brilon - Industrial Solar GmbH gains CENTROTEC Sustainable AG as strategic investor. CENTROTEC Sustainable AG and its subsidiaries enjoy a presence in over 50 different countries. The principal group companies are Wolf Heiztechnik, Brink Climate Systems and Ned Air in the Climate Systems segment, which have specialised in heating, climate control and ventilation technology e.g. in the form of solar thermal systems, heat pumps, CHP units, climate control and ventilation systems with heat recovery for residential and commercial buildings, as well as Ubbink and Centrotherm, which have focused on plastic gas flue and air ducting systems and solar system components in the Gas Flue Systems segment. CENTROTEC is consequently Europe’s only listed full-service provider of solar thermal systems and energy-saving solutions for buildings. Industrial Solar has arisen through a succession of spin-offs from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg, has many years of experience and an extensive network in the field of solar process heat. The highly efficient Fresnel collector system, for applications in the temperature range from 130°C to approx. 400°C covers a spread of thermal outputs from several hundred kW to the double-digit megawatt range, offers a broad range of industrial applications for solar process heat and solar cooling. This technology becomes even more appealing when combined with absorption refrigerators and other process heat equipment to create cogeneration or polygeneration systems.

Industrial Solar’s range of products and services therefore ideally complements the existing range of solar thermal systems and classic heating and climate control technology from the CENTROTEC subsidiary Wolf. Thus, together with the existing technologies and subsidiaries CENTROTEC achieves a unique position in the renewable heat sector. As well as synergies in technology and procurement, the existing sales and service network of the CENTROTEC Group should particularly help this energy-efficient technology to spread rapidly.

Industrial Solar successfully installed several collectors in countries like Spain, Italy, Germany, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates, and also, most recently, as part of a feasibility study on solar cooling for the stadiums at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The company furthermore has an extensive network of industrial partners spanning various sectors and applications, among which several internationally leading German companies in plant engineering and construction, with which it is teaming up to bring on the technology through pilot projects and commercial installations.

About Industrial Solar:
Industrial Solar GmbH (formerly Mirroxx) was initially formed as a spin-off of PSE AG under the umbrella of the Fraunhofer ISE and has specialised in concentrated solar-thermal technology since 1999. The first Fresnel collector was installed in 2005 and, due to its efficient design and the company’s expertise, has been fitted on roof tops and successfully integrated into the energy systems of multiple customers worldwide, reducing their energy consumption.
