juwi sells 50 MW Utah solar project to Dominion
Woerrstadt / Boulder, Colorado - juwi solar (JSI) announced today that it has sold the ownership interests in a 50 megawatt (MWac) solar energy facility to Dominion (NYSE: D).
Dominion is one of the nation’s largest producers and transporters of energy headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
The project was fully developed by JSI and has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with PacifiCorp. Currently named “Pavant Solar,” the project will be located in Millard County, Utah on approximately 419 acres of private ranchlands that have been leased to the project. JSI is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project and will operate the project for Dominion upon completion. Construction will commence before the end of the year and is expected to be completed by the second half of 2015. The project will use solar photovoltaic panels and single-axis tracking technology that enable the panels to track the sun from east to west in order to maximize efficiency.
“We are pleased to be building our first solar project in the state of Utah,” said Michael Martin, JSI’s president and chief executive officer. “This transaction demonstrates that large-scale solar facilities can be financed and built at prices that are in line with the rest of the electricity portfolio in the state.” Pavant Solar is the fourteenth large-scale solar project to be built by JSI in the United States. JSI has developed and built other solar projects across the country, including in Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Vermont and Texas.
juwi solar (JSI) is a privately-held solar energy generation company based in Boulder, Colorado. JSI’s primary business is the development, design, finance, construction, operation and maintenance of utility-scale (1 MW and larger) solar energy generation facilities in North America. To date JSI has built large-scale solar totaling more than 125 megawatts of operating capacity. JSI also provides operations, monitoring, and maintenance services customized for each solar facility and to each owner’s needs. JSI’s affiliate juwi Wind, also located in Boulder, Colorado, develops large-scale wind projects and to date has developed over 100 megawatts of operating wind projects in North America.
