World premiere: Deutsche Windtechnik will be in charge of full maintenance for new turbines at a 28.8 megawatt wind farm from commissioning onwards
Bremen/Osnabrück (renewablepress) - Deutsche Windtechnik AG will be providing full maintenance for the Buchonia wind farm in Rhon (Hesse). The contract has a term of 20 years and includes all maintenance, service work, upgrades and repairs. If necessary, the company will also restore total write-offs and repair rotors and large components of the nine Senvion 3.2M turbines. The new project makes Deutsche Windtechnik the first manufacturer-independent service provider in the world to take over the complete service for a wind farm from the day it goes into operation.
Deutsche Windtechnik´s deep understanding of this technology allows it to provide manufacturer-independent services to operators, investors and project developers as early as the design phase and during the tender. This fosters a more competitive atmosphere because operators can now choose between maintenance services provided by the manufacturer from the very beginning or by an independent company.
Independent service from the start
The transition from fixed feed-in tariffs to competitive tenders as prescribed by the EEG amendment makes identifying and utilising cost savings potential increasingly important. The contract is awarded to the provider with the best offer. For the operators of the Buchonia wind farm, this was a compelling argument. "Compared to the manufacturer´s offer, the overall package of services we will be receiving from Deutsche Windtechnik is at least equivalent, and the value-for-money ratio is very good", said Dr Marc Oeffner, Chief Representative of Windpark Buchonia GmbH & Co. KG. Jörg Fuchs, Head of Sales at Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service GmbH, added: "This contract marks the beginning of a new chapter in manufacturer-independent service for wind turbines."
First contract in the 3 MW class
The wind turbines installed at the Buchonia wind farm are the first Senvion turbines, for which Deutsche Windtechnik AG has been commissioned to provide maintenance. The turbine type 3.2M has a rated power of 3.2 megawatts and a rotor diameter of 114 metres. Effective immediately, the service provider is also offering its maintenance concept from day one for the other turbine types it services. This includes turbines manufactured by Vestas/NEG Micon, Siemens/AN Bonus Nordex/Südwind and FWT/Fuhrländer.
