Bachmann Monitoring Extends Portfolio with Structural Health Monitoring
Rudolstadt (renewablepress) - Bachmann Monitoring, recognized leaders in the field of Condition Monitoring Systems (CMS) for wind energy plants, expand their considerable competence by acquiring team know-how and intellectual property from airwerk GmbH. This addition significantly enhances Bachmann’s portfolio in the area of Condition Monitoring to include Structural Health Monitoring (SHM).
By adding substantial SHM know-how to its already successful product and services, Bachmann offers a comprehensive monitoring concept to its customers. The new SHM enables early detection of potential damage to structural elements, which plays an important role in the operation, maintenance (O&M) and asset management of offshore wind energy plants.
Holger Fritsch, Managing Director at Bachmann Monitoring, is very pleased with the expansion, “Our goal has always been to create a holistic monitoring concept. Now we can offer exactly this. With the expertise from our new SHM colleagues, we are able to create a noteworthy USP in this fast-growing international offshore market,” says Fritsch.
The data analysis enables Bachmann to make qualified statements on dynamic properties of onshore and offshore structures. It also predicts possible problems or assists with important maintenance tasks. More specifically, SHM fulfills regulatory requirements, the reduction of O&M costs and efficiently supports asset management.
Ever-increasing cost pressures, also a challenge to offshore wind industry, force operators to think hard about service life extension, prolonging maintenance intervals and increasing efficiency. “We’ve expanded Bachmann’s previous condition monitoring concept to include SHM, which creates significant added value for customers,” explains Kirsten Larson, the new SHM Team Leader at Bachmann.
