Renewable stocks: RENIXX World off to a successful start with its new structure
- USA remains ahead of Germany

Münster - Starting today, RENIXX (Renewable Energy Industrial Index) World, the global stock index for renewable energy sources, includes, for the first time, a total of 30 (previously 20) international companies belonging to the renewable energy industry. With 10 companies, the USA leads the country ranking ahead of Germany (8), China (5), France and Canada (each with 2) as well as Norway, Spain and Denmark (each with 1), announced the International Economic Platform for Renewable Energies (IWR) in Münster, Germany. Chinese solar companies increasingly made notable headway in the stock market during the first six months of 2007. “The investors are eyeing the low production costs, but also see the enormous Chinese market as well as the country’s energy problems”, said IWR Director Dr. Norbert Allnoch. After rising approximately 1.9 percent, RENIXX World hit another all-time high with 1360 points at midday.

New players in the RENIXX World are: Aventine (biofuels, USA), EDF Energies nouvelles (renewable supplier, France), Ersol (solar energy, Germany), JA Solar (solar energy, China), LDK Solar (solar energy, China), Plug Power (fuel cells, USA), Renesola (solar energy, China), Schmack (biogas, Germany), Solon (solar energy, Germany), Theolia (renewable supplier, France), Yingli Green (solar energy, China). The stocks of the biofuel manufacturer Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie dropped out of the RENIXX.

In addition to their home stock exchanges, all RENIXX securities are also listed on the German stock exchanges. A total of 1.34 billion stocks are freely tradable. June 29, 2007 saw the market capitalization of all 30 companies listed in the RENIXX reach a total of 74 billion euros.

About the RENIXX

Established in 2006, RENIXX World is the first index to track the performance of leading listed international companies in the promising renewable energy industry. The free-float market capitalization is the decisive factor for the weighting. Companies must achieve at least 50 percent of their revenue in the renewable energy industry to be included in the index.
