M+W Group urges commitment for climate protection as co-founder of the corporate trust 2°

Stuttgart/Berlin - Six leading German companies from various sectors have founded the corporate trust \'2° – German companies for climate protection\' (www.stiftung2grad.de) in Berlin. The trust\'s founders include Deutsche Bahn, EWE, M+W Group, Otto Group, PUMA and Xella. The founders\' common goal is to work together with science and society towards concrete solutions for climate protection for the long term beyond day-to-day business. To achieve this, the boards and directors will get involved personally and contribute their companies\' know-how to the trust\'s work.

At the event to mark the launch of the trust, the CEO of the M+W Group, Jürgen Wild stated: \"Climate protection and energy efficiency have been an integral part of our corporate policy for many years.\" Wild went on to say: \"This extends from the \'green building\' that houses the Group\'s ecological head offices to the unique portfolio for the generation of renewable energies. Our global engineering and construction know-how in this area ideally complements the work of the trust, thereby contributing to climate protection.\"

As one example of the the long-term commitment to the generation of renewable energies Wild cited the photovoltaics sector that the M+W Group has been helping to develop in Germany for more than 10 years as engineering and construction company. Today, the company is the global market leader in this sector with more than 9.3 gigawatts production capacity realized. Wild mentioned the construction of solar parks, the use of solar thermal energy, the mechanical-biological waste recovery as well as the planning and construction of lithium-ion battery plants as further examples.
