NOTUS plans construction of wind farms with rated output of 270 MW in Ukraine

The NOTUS energy group from Potsdam is planning the construction of three wind farms with a total capacity of 270 megawatts (MW) in Ukraine by 2021. NOTUS will structure the financing and is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the farms, which are intended to strengthen the NOTUS Group's own power generation in the long term.

Potsdam (renewablepress) - In April, the NOTUS energy Group acquired the rights for the construction of three wind farms with a total capacity of up to 270 MW in Ukraine. The projects are located in the districts of Roksolany, Ovid and Libental, some 30 kilometers west of Odessa. The 54 high-yield 5-megawatt wind turbines with a total height of around 250 meters are expected to be completed by 2021.

"We have taken over the project at an advanced stage from a local partner and are currently preparing the details of the final investment decision," explained Heiner Röger, founder and Managing Director of NOTUS energy in Potsdam, whose company will carry out the structured financing, technical planning, constructing and operating.

Financial strength for large projects

Ukraine, with its 43 million inhabitants and a land area that is about 70% larger than Germany, offers stable conditions for renewable energy: "The previous system with feed-in tariffs is currently being converted into a tender system. We would like to make use of the existing feed-in tariff, but the tender system will also provide us with a stable framework," said Röger. Thanks to their highly efficient turbine technology, NOTUS wind farms offer the best conditions for favourable electricity generation costs.

The three projects are located in close proximity to each other. The land required belongs to the local communities and will generate considerable rental income in the future.

"The 270 MW wind farms show that with our know-how and our financial strength we are also well positioned for very large projects," explained Röger. In its almost 20-year company history, NOTUS energy has built wind turbines with a total capacity of 1,340 MW and a stock of its own turbines of 170 MW. The 270 MW project in the Ukraine is part of the current project pipeline of 2,310 MW. The company operates in 13 countries, predominantly in central and Eastern Europe as well as the Americas.
