Battery Day NRW and Advanced Battery Power Symposium in Aachen: this is where the big names representing the battery world meet!

- From 25th to 27th February 2013: three days packed with battery expertise from the fields of research, development and application. A comprehensive programme offering a great diversity of papers and more than 100 academic posters.

Aachen/Essen - This three-day event at the Aachen congress centre Eurogress starts with Battery Day NRW 2013 and will be opened by Svenja Schulze, the patron of the congress and Minister for Innovation, Science and Research of the State of Northrhine Westphalia. The Battery Day will be staged in cooperation with Haus der Technik (HDT) and the clusters EnergieForschung.NRW (research into energy generation and supply), EnergieRegion.NRW (focusing on different energy carriers) and NanoMikro+Werkstoffe.NRW (specializing in nano and micro materials research). Prof Dirk Uwe Sauer of RWTH Aachen University is the chairman of the Day.

You will be informed on the latest developments in lithium ion battery technology for electric vehicles (electro mobility) and on first experiences from stationary applications. Of particular interest will be the optimization of battery performance, life and safety. This makes Battery Day NRW the perfect platform for the exchange of experience and ideas among the participants from different research fields related to energy provision, automobility and materials science.

Battery Day NRW 2013 will be followed by the two-day 5th International Symposium on Advanced Battery Development for Automotive and Utility Applications and their Electric Power Grid Integration (26th and 27th February). This is the event where international scientists, developers and engineers come together to discuss all relevant aspects of the world of batteries from basic research to application-related issues. Co-organizer of the symposium besides Haus der Technik is ISEA (Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives of RWTH Aachen University).

The Advisory Committee of the symposium selected top-quality presentations from more than 170 proposals in response to the Call for Papers to provide for an exciting conference programme. In total, there will be 60 papers both in plenary and break-out sessions, covering topics such as materials for and properties of lithium ion cells, lithium-ion batteries and alternative solutions, battery (volume) production, battery grid integration as well as batteries in automobile and stationary applications. In addition, there will be more posters on exhibition than ever before, i.e. over 100. On the second conference day we will pay tribute to the three best academic posters and present their authors with an award endowed by Haus der Technik.

The technical exhibition with display stands from various organizations and companies will add to the conference experience. We have also reserved meeting rooms at the venue for individual encounters and one-to-one discussions. The conference language is English, the first plenary sessions, however, will be translated from German into English and vice versa.
