In future, not dependent on grid codes and suitable for international use: revision of the FGW TG 8 certification guideline for grid connections of power generating units and storage systems
Berlin (renewablepress) - Eight years after the introduction of the FGW TG 8 certification guideline the FGW Expert Committee for Electrical Characteristics has decided that this guideline be revamped. This has become necessary in order to incorporate forthcoming changes in the area of grid connection guidelines. This certification guideline describes the procedures for verifying required characteristics of power plants that are to be provided by operators of wind turbines, solar systems, CHP plants and storage systems. There will be many changes due to the European regulations (RfG (Requirements for Generators), HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current Connections) and DCC (Demand Connection Code) and the rules concerning grid connection of the VDE/FNN based on these. By means of a modular structure of the future FGW TG 8 the requirements to be assessed can be easily assigned to the relevant grid connection guideline.
Overall, it will be easily possible in future to adapt the regulations to different grid codes via modules and to also expand them for further grid codes via specifications with little effort and expense.
Under the recently introduced consultation procedure the public is to have more opportunity to influence the text being able to comment on it in German and English and is to be provided with a transparent insight into how the regulations work.
The draft drawn up by a small team of representatives from EWE NETZ, FGH, HanseWerk, M.O.E., Senvion, WindGuard Certification and FGW over the past six months was presented and released for further use.
The newly established working groups will commence their work regarding the further implementation of open tasks on the basis of this draft.
The aim is to finalise the guideline in the first half of 2018, which can then be applied to all decentralised feeders for the purposes of verifying compliance with the relevant grid codes.
