Grid Integration of renewable energies key to successful energy transition

International discussion essential on the way to the sustainable energy system of the future

.

Darmstadt (renewablepress) - To reach the goals of the Paris agreement, numerous countries worldwide have set ambitious goals for their power supply with renewable energies. One of the major obstacles in all of these countries is the design of the existing energy systems as they evolved over many decades with nonrenewable energy sources at the center. Now, it is crucial to adapt the grid to the requirements of renewable energies.

How should the sustainable energy system of the future look like?

To answer this question, it is crucial to exchange international experiences in grid integration of renewable energies, present unconventional solutions and innovative research and discuss them target-oriented: on an international level at the interface between industry and research.

An opportunity to do just that offers the Grid Integration Week from 15 - 19 October 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden that features the renowned 8th Solar and 17th Wind Integration Workshops as well as the 2nd E-Mobility Power System Integration Symposium.

About 500 participants from power system operators, transmission and distribution grid operators, wind turbine, solar inverter and charging station manufacturers, universities and research institutes, and consulting companies will convene for the Grid Integration Week.

Major Players of the International RE Grid Integration Community partner up with the conferences: ENERCON, Vattenfall, Ørsted, DIgSILENT, ESIG, ENTSO-E, Solar Power Europe, Wind Europe, Power Circle und The Renewable Grid Initiative.

With 50+ presentations in 11 E-Mobility sessions, 70+ presentations in 17 solar sessions and 110+ presentations in 23 wind sessions the spectrum of topics ranges from grid code aspects and power quality issues to ancillary service aspects and storage issues.

The program also features a joint session on the IEA Wind Task 25 and the PV Integration Task 14 to present the highlights and trends from international collaboration on solar and wind integration. Moreover, there will be a session dedicated to grid forming inverters and one that focuses on NEDO Wind Generation Forecasting Projects.

Beside the regular sessions the Grid Integration Week offers multiple networking opportunities like E-Mobility and Wind Tutorials, Poster Receptions with flash talks or the combined Solar and Wind Dinner at the Vasa Museum.
