wpd was founded in Bremen in 1996 and has developed into one of the leading developers and operators (IRPP) of onshore wind and solar parks in Europe. wpd GmbH has over 1,300 employees worldwide. In addition to wpd GmbH (project developer and operator), the wpd group also includes wpd windmanager (commercial management and technical operation of wind and solar parks).

wpd is active in 33 countries worldwide and has implemented projects with 2,810 wind turbines and a total output of 6,970 MW, as well as solar energy projects with an output of 70 MW. The company's own portfolio includes projects with a total capacity of 3,512 MW.

In addition to developing its own projects, the company also takes on project partnerships, commercial development, contract design, project financing and the completion and operation of wind and solar energy plants.
