BKN BioKraftstoff Nord: Joint Venture founded for France,

– Biogas subsidiary Biostrom has founded a joint venture in Alsace
– High growth potential through favourable market conditions

Sprakensehl-Bokel - BKN BioKraftstoff Nord AG opens up the French biogas market, which is considered to have extremely high growth potential in Europe due to favourable market conditions. In addition a joint venture has been founded between the BKN subsidiary BIOSTROM Energy Group AG and BEE Beteiligungsgesellschaft Erneuerbare Energien mbH.

Both partners have a 50% holding in this joint venture, named France Biogaz Valorisation S.A.R.L. with headquarters in Hagenau, Alsace. The Biogas Company located in Vechta and the renowned project developer Sterr-Kölln & Partner are planning to build 20 biogas plants, primarily for customers in the foods industry. In the mid-term sales potential should be a three digit million sum, of which a project volume of € 50 m is already secured by the 20 projects. The parties concerned have sustained success to their name from the flourishing development of wind farms with total power of 140 MW.

France provides favourable market conditions for biogas plants: Independent studies expect between 30 and 60 percent growth p.a. in this market segment by 2020. On the one hand this is due to the high raw material potential due to agricultural land being twice that of Germany; however predominantly it is due to the French law which has meanwhile been adopted and which is equivalent to the German renewable energy law (Erneuerbare Energien Gesetz - EEG). One particular fact in the French regulation is the fix sum which is independent of both the plant output and of the input material used (NAWARO or so-called coenzymes).

Günter Schlotmann, COO of BKN BioKraftstoff Nord AG, summarizes: "This joint venture is of great importance to our company as currently there are only a few biogas plants with a total energy supply of approx. 60 MWe and demand is extremely high. Our special business model to become a manufacturer independent general developer, able to provide the entire value range such as site search, construction, long-term operational management and financial management has proven once more to be a decisive competitive advantage over being a plant constructor".
