Press Release

Publisher: BKN biostrom AG

BKN biostrom AG sells its biodiesel business. Group reorientation thus concluded successfully.

Vechta - BKN biostrom AG has sold its biodiesel subsidiary, BioDiesel Bokel GmbH, as planned. The aim is to concentrate exclusively on the project planning of biogas plants in future.

With this sale the company has ended its activities in the biodiesel market and thus successfully concluded the reorientation of the BKN Group. The buyer is BF Oils Ltd., London, a sales and logistics company specialising in the international biofuels market. With the production plant in Bokel, the company has acquired a state of the art location where biodiesel can be manufactured at very low cost using the so-called multi-feedstock process. The companies have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential. The sale should be made final on 30 Sept. 2008, so that BKN will end its biodiesel activities in the current fiscal year 2007/2008 (30 Sept.). With this, BKN will turn its sole focus to its biogas activities beginning in the fiscal year to come.

Robert Starling, Managing Director of BF Oils Ltd., believes the takeover of BioDiesel Bokel GmbH is an important milestone for the further growth of the company’s biodiesel business. "Our aim is to gain additional market shares in both the German market and in Europe. The acquisition of this state of the art production plant puts us a large step closer to achieving this goal."

Gunnar Dresen, BKN biostrom AG’s CFO, is also pleased about the sale. "We have found an ideal buyer for our previous biodiesel segment in BF Oils Ltd. and Robert Starling. I am certain that the Bokel location will fit very well with the new owner’s corporate strategy and will be further developed accordingly."
