Nordex: first N117/3600 to start operation in November

Hamburg (renewablepress) - Just a short time after the market launch of the N117/3600, in September 2016 the Nordex Group received the first order from WIND-consult Measuring Company for a project with the new turbine for IEC-2 sites.
In November the first N117/3600 is to start operation in Bargeshagen, near Rostock. With a wind speed of 7.1 m/s at hub height the site offers good conditions for measuring the IEC-2 turbine. In addition to checking the power curve, the Nordex Group will have the sound power level and grid compatibility of the turbine checked and analysed by the measuring institute WIND-Consult on the basis of the measurements recorded in Bargeshagen during the now starting strong wind period. This means that for the start of the series in summer 2017 the turbine will be fully certified, including the type certificate.
The turbine has already passed the type test for tower heights of 91 m and 106 m. Therefore customers can have projects with this turbine approved immediately. The same applies for the N131/3600, the manufacturer´s new light-wind turbine, with the 106 metre tubular steel tower. Nordex is already able to install both models.
"The fact that our customer can commission the first N117/3600 so soon after its official market launch shows the great confidence placed in our product development. Our engineers are constantly working on making our turbines even more efficient in order to enable our customers to achieve a low cost of energy," says Patxi Landa, COO Sales & Marketing of the Nordex Group. "We are highly satisfied with our collaboration with Nordex and pleased that we have been able to provide a site for the complete measurement of the prototype for the very first turbine with the repowering of our measurement field," adds Joachim Schwabe, managing director of the measurement field company.
At the middle of next year the manufacturer will be installing two N117/2400s next to the N117/3600 at the Bargeshagen site. Nordex will be taking charge of servicing all three turbines for a period of 18 years on the basis of a Premium Contract.
