SunTechnics opens branch office in India

Hamburg/Bangalore, 4. August 2005: SunTechnics has opened a branch office in Bangalore in India. As a result, the global market leader of solar systems currently operates branch offices on four continents. With the globally tried-and-tested solar engineering expertise and the sales and engineering teams that are well experienced in the Indian energy market, SunTechnics is also planning to rapidly increase its market share in India. The aim is to benefit as much as possible from the Indian government’s plans to quadruple installed solar output by 2010.

Approximately 45% of Indian homes are still not connected to the public power supply network. The Indian Ministry of Energy has set its sights on changing this by 2012. Solar off-grid systems currently provide power for street lighting, water pumps and buildings that are far away from the public power supply network. Of the 80,000 villages that still have no power supply, 18,000 of them cannot receive a power supply as a result of geographical obstacles. Systems that use renewable energy sources will, according to a study by dena (deutsche Energie Agentur - German Energy Agency), close this supply gap. “SunTechnics solar systems are optimally designed to provide an intelligent energy mix to cover the sharply increasing electricity requirements of the sunny Indian subcontinent. It is cheaper to cover the growing electricity requirements in many parts of India that are far away from the public power supply network using solar off-grid systems in combination with our methane systems,” reports Stefan Müller, Managing Director of SunTechnics for the Asia-Pacific region. The new branch office in Bangalore serves with four employees as a central location where the entire sales for India and adjoining countries can be organised.
