Wood Energy: 30 Percent Growth Leading Trade Fair Opens on September 22nd, 2005

Reutlingen - Bioenergy is the largest growth market in the renewable energy industry. In 2004 the industry registered growth of 22.8 percent to 3.5 billion euro. For 2005, according to the Federal Association Bioenergy e.V. (BBE), bioenergy is expected to grow by over 30 percent. "The market for bioenergy is developing strongly", according to Bernd Geisen, managing director of the BBE.

At the end of 2004 there were 28,000 pellet heating systems in Germany, by the end of 2006 the number is estimated to exceed 50,000. Heating with pellets represents an economical and price-stable alternative to oil, thanks to modern technology which that does not sacrifice comfort. A pellet heating system is somewhat more expensive up-front than an oil heating system, however, operating costs are substantially lower.

This year IHE® WoodEnergy 2005 together with the partner fairs RENEXPO® and reCONSTRUCT® will welcome over 300 exhibitors - a growth of 30 percent over last year. Just under 20 percent of the exhibitors will come from abroad. From September 22nd-25th, at Fairground Augsburg the “allied” trade fairs will focus on wood energy, renewable energy as well as energy-efficient in building and reconstruction.

At the trade fairs in Augsburg representatives from around the world will meet to discuss the renewable energy industry. Guests to the trade fairs include the Indian Minister for Non-conventional Energy Sources as well as the Thai Energy Minister. In addition, business or political delegations from Europe, Asia and Australia are expected.
