Grant of permit for the Swedish Offshore wind farm Kriegers Flak II
Stockholm, 29th of June 2006. As the Swedish Government communicated today, the offshore wind farm Kriegers Flak II has now been permitted. The project was developed in 2002 by the Swedish Offshore Wind AB in Stockholm, a subsidiary company of the German WPD Offshore Ltd in Bremen and the Wind-Projekt Ltd in Börgerende. Last year in May the company Offshore Wind AB and the Project Kriegers Flak II was sold to the electric utility Vattenfall. Since then the WPD Scandinavia AB is entrusted with the further development of the project. According to the plans of Vattenfall, the construction of the wind farm will however not start before 2009.
The project Kriegers Flack II consists of 128 turbines with a total capacity of 640 MW. The site is situated south of Trelleborg in the Swedish exclusive economic area next to the German Project Kriegers Flak I. The project Kriegers Flak I has also been developed by WPD and Wind-Project for which the construction permit was granted in April 2006.
