Climagy invests in Beck Energy Solar Power Plant

Kolitzheim - Beck Energy’s newest large-scale solar power plant was commissioned at Eggenbach, near Bad Staffelstein in Upper Franconia. The 5,8 acre facility relies completely on First Solar’s CTS thinfilm solar modules. With a rated output of 1.616kWp and a yearly yield of 1.6GWh it will produce enough electricity for about 500 family homes and thereby save about 1100 metric tons of CO2.

The large-scale system was financed by SachsenLB, one of the largest German institutions to fund renewable energy projects. Solarkraftwerke Eggenbach GmbH & Co KG, the company that was established to operate the facility, was the first to receive financial backing from Climagy GmbH. This new German corporation funds climate friendly energy projects. The Eggenbach power plant is to be the first of many such investments.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by representatives of all participating companies and the local clergy, who issued the blessing for a long and safe operation.
