SANYO AND WATTNER ANNOUNCE COOPERATION - Financing for solar power plants worth 20 million EUR annually

Cologne/Munich - Wattner AG of Cologne, Germany, and SANYO Components Europe GmbH (SANYO), a subsidiary of SANYO Electric Co., Ltd., announce the cooperation on financing and construction of solar power plants worth 20 million EUR annually. With this step, both companies will elevate their existing relationship to a new level. SANYO, as one of the world leading solar panel manufacturers, will support projects by supplying HIT solar panels whereas Wattner renders the project financing. “With SANYO, we secure an important strategic partner with whom we also worked very well together in the past. Many of our solar projects with SANYO HIT panels have continuously outperformed the competition.” explains Wattner Managing Director Ulrich Uhlenhut. “SANYO HIT panels, for example, have been used in our 1.4 MegaWatts (MW) roof installations in Wilkau-Hasslau and Greiz, both in Germany.”

The cooperation with Wattner is in line with SANYO’s strategy. “We broaden our revenue base in the solar market while still focusing on our technological core competencies.” says Yoshiyuki Arikawa, Deputy General Manager of SANYO’s solar division. “This project collaboration with an annual volume of up to 5MW will secure us constant project sales over several years.”

Arising from the cooperation is a project pipeline of 2 MW in 2008, and an additional 3 MW are presently passing the planning stage.
