Phoenix Solar AG signs contracts for the construction of three solar power plants with a peak power output of 5.4 megawatt
- Order books filling for 2008- Completion planned for the first quarter of 2008

Sulzemoos - Phoenix Solar AG has signed contracts for the turn-key construction of three solar power plants with a peak output of 5.4 megawatt (MW). Grid connection of the power plants has been scheduled for the first quarter of 2008.

Phoenix Solar will build solar power plants of 3.1 MW and 1.7 MW respectively on two sites in Greding and Salching in Bavaria for a Munich-based investor. These power plants will be constructed with thin-film modules from First Solar. Phoenix Solar will install more than 65,600 solar modules on a surface area totalling 17.5 hectares. The photovoltaic plants are expected to generate a yield of more than five million kilowatt-hours and supply around 1,400 households a year with environmentally friendly electricity.

A solar power plant with a peak power output of 560 kilowatt is to be built by Phoenix Solar at Lake Constance for Singen-based solarcomplex AG. In 2006 and 2007 Phoenix Solar had already built a 1.65 MW ground-mounted large-scale power plant using First Solar thin-film modules on the former waste disposal site of Rickelshausen in the District of Constance. The next ground-mounted power plant is to be built with the same technology on the neighbouring waste disposal site in Langenried and is due to be connected to the grid in the first quarter of 2008.

Preparatory steps are to be taken for all three power plants this year in order to ensure that the plants can be completed in the first quarter of 2008. The contracts are also indicative of the improved availability of modules through the signing of long-term module delivery agreements.

“We are delighted at the steady, high level of interest in ground-mounted power plants in Germany, a market segment where Phoenix Solar AG is one of the leaders”, commented Chief Technology Officer Manfred Bächler, the Board member at Phoenix Solar responsible for power plant construction.
