Phoenix Solar Energy Investments AG signs project development agreement with B

- Solar projects with a volume of around EUR 100 million planned
- Ground-mounted plants with peak outputs of one to ten megawatts

Sulzemoos - Phoenix Solar Energy Investments AG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Phoenix Solar AG, has signed an agreement with Trier-based Bürgerservice GmbH for the development of ground-mounted photovoltaic plants. Under this agreement Bürgerservice GmbH will develop solar projects for Phoenix Solar Energy Investments in the region of Trier, Rhineland Palatinate/Saarland over the next two years. The ground-mounted power plants are to have peak outputs of between one and ten megawatts.

Phoenix Solar AG plans to build these power plants during 2008 and 2009 and then to sell them as turn-key plants to German and foreign investors. The projected volume of the projects comes to around EUR 100 million.

Along with its project development, Bürgerservice is to be involved in the construction of the power plants. As in the past with the successful three-megawatt project in Longuich near Trier, Phoenix Solar will be responsible in the role of general contractor for the planning and construction of the plant. There are plans for Bürgerservice to take over part of the module assembly work as well as the excavation and digging operations as sub-contractor to Phoenix. Once the plants have become operational, Phoenix Solar will ensure the maintenance and remote monitoring of the plants. Bürgerservice will take care of the property and provide local technical support.

Bürgerservice GmbH is a non-profit company which, since its founding in 1987, hires people who do not have the best chances on the regular labour market. The aim is to help these people to gain additional qualifications, to give them work through projects and measures, and then to integrate them into the main labour market. The company currently employs more than 300 employees.

Horst Schneider, Managing Director of Bürgerservice, believes that solar electricity projects harbour much potential for the region. “We can create more jobs and secure them long term while making an important contribution to the sustainable supply of energy.”
