Global Energy Services (Spain) acquires Germany

Fehmarn/Hamburg - On June 16th of this year, WKA-Service-Fehmarn GmbH, together with the companies Rotoclimb GmbH and WEA Rotorservice Gmbh, became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Global Energy Services Siemsa S.A.

"WKA-Service-Fehmarn Gmbh, with the solid backing of Global Energy Services, will be able to provide maintenance and repair services of rotor blades on a larger scale, both domestically and internationally", said Reinhard Beyer, Managing Director of WKA-Service-Fehmarn.

GES Global Energy Services is a manufacturer-independent service provider in the energy industry. GES has many years of experience and expertise in the construction and installation of wind power plants (such as access road and foundation building, cable laying or connection to the grid and assembly of wind turbines) as well as in technical servicing and maintenance work.

As a worldwide leading provider, Global Energy Services is adding rotor blade services to its product portfolio. "We are making a major further step towards becoming a full-service provider for the wind power industry thus strengthening our position in the European market", states Ricardo Moro, CEO of Global Energy Services.

GES employs more than 4,000 people in 17 branch offices, including Germany, Italy, Portugal, Poland, France, the UK and the US. WKA-Service-Fehmarn is to offer its services via these offices as well. In joint teams, GES-personnel will be fully trained and qualified by WKA nationally and internationally.

GES has installed approx. 10,000 MW and provides maintenance for 7,000 MW globally. In 2007 turnover amounted to ca. 489 million euro.

WKA-Service-Fehmarn employs more than 80 highly qualified personnel. Among its core competencies WKA lists maintenance, repair and inspection of rotor blades and towers using purpose-built working platforms. To date 26 working platforms are available for customers. In addition WKA provides technical inspection of blades and towers using ‘rope-assisted climbing technology’.

The company makes its own repair hall available for complex repair or retrofitting action as well as major-damage work.

"Our customers and contract partners will further benefit from WKA-Service-Fehmarn’s familiar and high-quality service provision. Now we will be better able to respond to increasing customer demand. And we will increase the availability of our services for our customers abroad", said Managing Director Reinhard Beyer.
