OSTWIND Favourably Positioned for the New Decade
- HUSUM WindEnergy 2010 – prelude to an autumn charged with energy!
Regensburg - At HUSUM WindEnergy 2010, the leading trade fair of the wind energy sector from September 21 to 25, 2010, the OSTWIND Group located in Regensburg, Straßburg and Prague presents itself in a favourable position. Gisela Wendling-Lenz and Ulrich Lenz, who have been jointly managing the internationally active planning office for more than 15 years, referred to their company’s current project figures prior to the opening of the trade fair. Accordingly OSTWIND projects with a capacity of more than 60 MW are currently under construction in France, Germany and Czechia while over 420 MW are going through approval processes or the concrete planning stages.
The know-how of the OSTWIND team, which currently consists of 75 employees, is now in demand across the entire renewable energy sector – for example in the planning, financing and realisation of trendsetting solar projects. 10 of these have been installed in Germany alone to date, while 10 further domestic and international projects are pending realisation in the near future.
Based on this background, the entrepreneurial couple is optimistic regarding the future development of their group. On the other hand, they are sceptical regarding the consequences of current energy policy decisions by the federal government. \"Not only is politics slowing down the development of renewable energy in Germany, it is also jeopardising the country’s international leadership role,\" Ulrich Lenz fears.
OSTWIND exhibited understanding for the criticism voiced by municipalities and utilities regarding the extension for the operation of nuclear power plants. The hopes of citizens, municipalities, utilities, associations and energy supply companies regarding the significant economical and ecological opportunities of a decentralised energy supply could thereby no longer be realised.
For Gisela Wendling-Lenz, the term bridging technology is therefore misleading and incorrect. It suggests the transition to a new era, so the entrepreneur, \"but in reality the existing energy structures are being cemented and fair competition between conventional and renewable energy sources is being prevented.\" She hopes that the statements made by the federal government regarding the continued expansion of renewable energy generation are more than just lip service.
Nevertheless, OSTWIND does not intend to look at the dark side of things in Husum but is going to rise to the challenge. \"We are accustomed to headwind,\" Gisela Wendling-Lenz and Ulrich Lenz declared in unison. This is why the company is promoting a different energy future at the wind trade fair – a future that takes climate protection and the risks of nuclear energy seriously. \"City, country, wind – and the energy supply of the future\" - that is the issue addressed by renowned experts in a series of presentations sponsored by the OSTWIND Group during HUSUM WindEnergy 2010. Five forums take centre stage:
- \"Über allen Wipfeln ist – Wind! Zur Nutzung der Windkraft im Wald\" (Above the treetops there is – wind! On the use of wind energy in the forest)
- \"Vive la France! Et le vent? Frankreichforum in Kooperation mit der Koordinierungsstelle Windenergie\" (Vive la France! Et le vent? French forum in cooperation with the Wind Energy Coordination Centre)
- \"Netzwerk Zukunft: dezentral, erneuerbar und intelligent! Zur Netzintegration erneuerbarer Energien\" (Network future: decentralised, renewable and intelligent! On the network integration of renewable energy\")
- \"Mit offenen Augen in die Energiezukunft. Wind, Energie und Landschaft\" (Into the energy future with open eyes. Wind, energy and landscape)
- \"Mit neuen Energien gegen alte Gewohnheiten. Unsere Zukunft – eine Akzeptanzfrage?\" (Against old habits with new energy sources. Our future – a matter of acceptance?). (Opening by Hans-Josef Fell, Member of the German Parliament)
OSTWIND once again intends to set a distinctive course at HUSUM WindEnergy 2010 – also with a new booth concept. This year the group invited an artist for the first time in order to assist with the design of the trade fair motto and booth. Matthias Schlüter from Regensburg supplied the images that bring the vision \"City, country, wind – and the energy supply of the future\" to life in Husum.
