- AMBAU receives large order for offshore foundations

Bremen - AMBAU has received the first complete order for 80 monopile foundations for the Meerwind Süd/Ost offshore wind farm project. \"This is the single largest order in the history of our business and affirms our investment in our production sites for wind energy,\" said Joachim Görlitz, AMBAU’s managing partner. \"This order sends a strong signal for continuing to develop Germany’s offshore wind industry. German businesses are strengthening the region economically and setting an example for foreign markets as well,\" confirmed Ronny Meyer, managing director of WAB, the business network agency for the wind industry, and organiser of the seventh WINDFORCE11 – DIRECTION OFFSHORE conference in June.

AMBAU will manufacture 80 sets of monopiles and transition pieces for WindMW in Bremerhaven. The 80 offshore turbines, each with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts, will be installed 23 kilometres north of Heligoland island in the North Sea from 2012; they will be able to provide power to some 360,000 households. Foundation structures will be manufactured at all five AMBAU plants starting in November 2011.

During the WINDFORCE11 – DIRECTION OFFSHORE conference from 7 to 9 June 2011 in Bremerhaven, participants will have the opportunity to visit the AMBAU plant in Cuxhaven on one of four different excursions to offshore wind energy businesses and institutions in the region. The patron of the conference is Germany’s environment minister Norbert Röttgen.

At this year’s conference, the agenda will prioritise the issues of service and maintenance, the development of the German offshore wind industry, logistics, and the potential for networking with the oil and gas industry.
