Nordex USA stellt größten Windpark der Gruppe fertig - BP-/Sempra-Projekt mit 60 N90/2500 geht in Colorado in Betrieb
Hamburg (iwr-pressedienst) - Die US-Tochtergesellschaft des Windenergieanlagenherstellers Nordex setzt einen Meilenstein für die gesamte Gruppe: Mit dem 150-MW-Projekt "Cedar Creek 2" hat sie den weltweit größten Nordex-Windpark in Betrieb genommen. "Cedar Creek 2" ist zugleich einer der größten Windparks im Bundesstaat Colorado. 60 Anlagen des bewährten Typs N90/2500 produzieren hier Strom für rund 45.000 amerikanische Haushalte. Eigentümer sind der Projektentwickler und Kraftwerksbetreiber Sempra Generation sowie die BP-Gruppe über ihren Geschäftsbereich Windenergie.
Der Windpark "Cedar Creek 2" befindet sich im Bezirk Weld im Nordosten von Colorado. Die erhöhte Lage erforderte eine spezielle Auslegung der N90/2500-Anlagen, besonders im Hinblick auf die Klimatisierung. Vertraglicher Abnehmer des Stroms ist für eine Dauer von 25 Jahren die Public Service Company of Colorado, ein Tochterunternehmen des Strom- und Erdgasanbieters Xcel Energy. Nordex wird sich für mindestens fünf Jahre um Service und Wartung kümmern.
Ralf Sigrist, Geschäftsführer von Nordex USA, freut sich, dass sich BP bei dem Großprojekt für Nordex-Technik entschieden hat: "Die Partnerschaft mit BP geht bereits auf das Jahr 2002 zurück. Damals hat unser Unternehmen Turbinen für einen BP-Raffineriestandort in den Niederlanden geliefert. Für uns ist es jetzt wichtig, auf bestehenden Kundenbeziehungen aufzubauen, um in den Vereinigten Staaten weiter zu wachsen."
Bis heute hat Nordex in Nordamerika rund 500 MW ans Netz gebracht. Seit dem Wiedereintritt in den US-Markt Ende 2007 hat der Hersteller seine Multimegawattbaureihe erfolgreich platziert, im Herbst 2010 nahm er die Turbinenmontage in Arkansas in Betrieb. Mit "Cedar Creek 2" beweist er nun, dass er gut aufgestellt ist, um die Herausforderungen in Logistik und Projektmanagement eines Windparks dieser Größe erfolgreich zu bewältigen. Derzeit errichtet Nordex in Pennsylvania, Iowa und Idaho weitere große Projekte mit Multimegawattanlagen der Gamma-Generation.
