Nordex exceeding the 10,000 mark

Hamburg - With the completion of an N117/2400 turbine at the Irish 36 MW wind farm Monaicha, Nordex SE’s global installed nominal output has now passed the 10,000 MW threshold. All the just under 6,000 Nordex turbines which have been installed since 1985 are thus notionally supplying more than 6.5 million four-person homes with clean wind-produced electricity, avoiding more than 26 billion tons of C02 emission a year with their harmful effects on the ozone layer.

Last year alone, the Group assembled a total of 506 turbines around the world, meaning that on average two turbines went on line each working day. At the same time, Nordex has achieved considerable gains in its share of the market in selected regions: According to industry association figures, it was responsible for more than 52 percent of the new installations in Norway, more than 25 percent in both Turkey and the Netherlands and 17 percent in Finland.

“Nordex has since installed 186 Generation Gamma N117/2400 turbines of the type now assembled in Ireland, with a further 199 under construction,” says Nordex Management Board member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard.

About Nordex
As one of the technological leaders in multi-megawatt wind power systems, Nordex is benefiting from the trend in favour of large-scale turbines. The Generation Gamma range comprises the N90/2500, N100/2500 and the N117/2400, which is one of the most efficient onshore turbines. To date, over 2,600 of these turbines have been produced. This experience with multi-megawatt turbines gives Nordex a decisive lead over most of its competitors. With Generation Delta, Nordex is now offering the fourth generation of its proven multi-megawatt platform (N100/3300, N117/3000, N131/3000). Nordex has installed a total of over 5,970 turbines with an aggregate capacity of around 10,000 MW all around the world. With exports accounting for more than 85 percent of its business, Nordex SE plays a key role in international high-growth regions. The Company has offices and subsidiaries in 22 countries around the world with a total global headcount of over 2,500 employees.
