BayWa r.e. builds 12 MW wind farm for Th

Munich (renewablepress) - Last week, Külsheim wind farm was officially inaugurated by Thüga Erneuerbare Energien and Tauberfranken municipal services. The five Nordex N117 wind turbines generate a total output of 12 MW. BayWa r.e. acted as general planner and project manager for Thüga Erneuerbare Energien and Tauberfranken municipal services, and was also in charge of on-site construction management. The project was completed on schedule, despite the challenging geographical location in an area of woodland 8 km north-west of Tauberbischofsheim.

Thanks to BayWa r.e.\'s extensive expertise, aspects such as the grid connection were able to be significantly improved. This resulted in considerable cost savings, as the project could be realised without constructing a substation. Instead, the power is routed directly to Tauberbischofsheim, where it is fed into the public grid. Originally the project was only intended to have four wind turbines, however a fifth was approved a year later. Despite this late approval, the additional turbine was seamlessly integrated into the construction process and could be jointly commissioned with the other turbines.

Klaus Peter Lehmann, director of project development at Thüga Erneuerbare Energien, commented: \"We are very happy with the professional implementation of this project. So much so, that during the construction phase, we commissioned BayWa r.e. with the general planning and project management of a further wind energy project, this time with nine wind turbines.\"

Martin Reckmann, managing director of BayWa r.e. Wind GmbH, is clearly very pleased that collaboration with Thüga Erneuerbare Energien proved to be so successful and offered an insight into further expanding the company\'s collaboration with municipal services, local authorities and energy cooperatives: \"Külsheim wind farm is a perfect example of how BayWa r.e.\'s expertise can contribute to the success of our clients\' projects. We offer our clients a wide spectrum of services – from planning through to turnkey construction of the entire wind farm.\" Following commissioning, BayWa r.e. can also take on the technical and commercial operations management of the plant on request.
