Nordex awarded follow-up contract from Australia
- Acciona Energia ordering a further 22 turbines
Hamburg (renewablepress) - The Nordex Group has received a follow-up contract for a further 22 AW125/3000 turbines. Once again, its customer is Acciona Energia, which had previously placed an order for 22 of these turbines with the manufacturer at the end of the year for the first construction phase of the “Mount Gellibrand” wind farm. Nordex will be shipping the necessary components to Australia from autumn 2017, upon which Acciona Energia will be installing the 132 MW-park.
A large part of the 87-metre tall steel tube towers will be sourced locally, while the rotor blades will be produced in South-East Asia and the nacelles in Spain. In this way, Nordex will be able to achieve an optimum balance between costs and local manufacturing content. The order includes a service contract for an initial period of two years.
Located in Colac, around 100 kilometres west of Melbourne, the wind farm will be going on line in July 2018. All told, the Nordex Group currently has an installed capacity of around 240 megawatts in Australia.
