Siemens Gamesa commissions Green Wind for ''Albatros'' offshore wind farm

Berlin (renewablepress) - The installation of the EnBW offshore wind farm "Albatros" in the North Sea is in full swing. About 104 kilometres off the coast, 16 offshore SWT-7.0-154 turbines from Siemens Gamesa and the Transformer Platform (OTM) with corresponding network interfaces are currently being installed. Green Wind was commissioned to organise and supervise all switching operations for the commissioning of the OTM and the wind turbines by the end of 2019. In addition, the entire network structure is mapped within the Green Wind control room software in the form of a so-called “digital twin,” and prepared for manual control and optional telecontrol.

Switching operations around the clock

The switching processes for commissioning must be accompanied, monitored, and documented around the clock. Green Wind's scope of services also includes the simulation of planned switching processes, the monitoring of commissioning by remote and partially on-site communication, and the creation and dynamic adaptation of all necessary switching programs. By the end of the year, a team of Green Wind specialists will be in place to ensure that the project can be reached at all times and that everything runs smoothly.

Second major offshore order for Green Wind

The offshore wind farm "Albatros" is part of an overall EnBW project in cooperation with the "Hohe See” wind farm. The 87 wind turbines with an installed capacity of 609 megawatts are expected to be connected to the grid by the end of 2019, and will produce as much energy as a modern gas power plant—enough electricity, for example, to supply all private households in Munich with green energy.

For Green Wind, "Albatros" is the second major offshore contract after the maintenance management for DolWin3, which will be implemented using the high-performance 24/7 Green Wind control station.

Offshore independence

"The Albatros contract opens another door for us into the offshore market," says Manuel Lasse, Green Wind’s Managing Director. "We are currently one of the few independent companies with a 24/7 control room and a highly competent team that can offer this range of services. We are delighted that Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has placed its trust in us, and that we can make an important contribution to Germany's largest offshore wind farm project currently under construction.”
