- German industry well positioned
- Trade fair decarbXpo focuses on hydrogen applications

Düsseldorf (renewablepress) - Current studies show the enormous potential of the hydrogen and Power-to-X market for the European economy. Roughly one million additional jobs are expected to be created in the EU by 2030, and as many as over five million by 2050. “Hydrogen is the only way to achieve climate neutrality in the industry,” says Peter Müller-Baum, who works at the Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers’ Association VDMA as a Managing Director of the Power-to-X for Applications platform, to name but one of his roles. The platform is partnering with the trade fair for industrial decarbonisation “decarbXpo” (www.decarbxpo.de) where it will also be staging panel discussions on green hydrogen.

Association admonishes more speed

With its Power-to-X platform the VDMA has been committed to climate-friendly hydrogen and other Power-to-X technologies for years. From the VDMA’s viewpoint this is particularly important because “green molecules” also allow sectors to switch to renewable energies that would otherwise have no or only very limited possibilities to do so for technical reasons. These, it says, include aviation, ocean shipping, large parts of the chemical industry, the steel industry, to name but a few. This is why Müller-Baum calls for more speed from policymakers: “We shouldn’t just keep talking about it but really get started now. The USA has long shown the way by promoting hydrogen projects worth $9.5 billion via the infrastructure package adopted in 2021.”

Exchange and networking are pivotal

The VDMA sees the German industry well positioned here in technical terms. “The sector has realised the potential of hydrogen and is actively working towards transformation,” says Müller-Baum. Trade fairs and conferences have a key role to play in this context since they promote exchange and networking. The trade fair for industrial decarbonisation, decarbXpo, specialises in this:

From 28 to 30 November the fair will provide scope for information and networking among users and providers of decarbonisation solutions in Düsseldorf’s new exhibition hall 1. Represented here alongside the VDMA will also be global energy player Uniper SE, leading energy technology manufacturer Siemens AG and numerous other exhibitors. They all will be presenting technologies and services that allow industrial and commercial enterprises to decarbonise their processes. For more information please visit www.decarbxpo.de.
