REpower to deliver 19 wind turbines to Japan

Hamburg, 1 July 2005. REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) received an order to deliver a total of 19 wind energy turbines to Japan. The REpower MD77-type turbines provide a rated power of each 1.5 megawatts. Two of the turbines are expected to be erected in autumn this year in the Northwest of Japan´s main island Honshu, in the coastal city of Akita. Delivering of further 17 turbines is scheduled for the first quarter of 2006. They will be installed close to the coastal city of Hachiryu, also in the Northwest of Honshu.

REpower will manufacture a total of 19 turbines at its German production sites Husum and Trampe. The customer is the sales partner MEIDEN who successfully offers REpower turbines on the Japanese market since spring 2002. The order volume is in the double-digit million Euro range.

The two turbines to be delivered this year are intended for the projects “Mukaihama” and “Akita Marine”, which are scheduled for autumn this year. The remaining 17 turbines are destined for the project “Hachiryu”, which is expected to be realised at the beginning of the first quarter 2006. Regarding the “Hachiryu” project, MEIDEN is developer and wind park operator at the same time.

As sales partner, MEIDEN is the exclusive distributor for REpower products in Japan. Along with the continuous market development, MEIDEN closely cooperates with REpower in Germany for the maintenance and service for the turbines in Japan. REpower is the fourth largest manufacturer on the Japanese market.
