REpower receives major order in Australia - Delivery of 29 turbines (58 MW) for "Portland Stage II" project

Hamburg, 6 July 2006. REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) has been commissioned to supply 29 wind turbines by the Australian company Pacific Hydro Pty Ltd. Pacific Hydro is one of the largest Australian companies in the wind and water power sector. MM82 turbines have been chosen for the "Portland Stage II" project in the South-Eastern Australian state of Victoria and have a total rated power of 58 megawatts. The Stage II project is part of a larger wind farm development in the Portland area, which has a planned total output of 195 megawatts and covers four different locations.

The 29 turbines each have an output of two megawatts and a hub height of 69 metres and are scheduled to be installed at the end of 2007. A decision is yet to be made on the allocation of the orders for the remaining stages of the Portland wind energy project.

"This is the second largest order for REpower so far", said Prof. Fritz Vahrenholt, Chairman of the Executive Board. "It shows that we are heading in the right direction with our orientation towards important growth markets abroad – including beyond Europe, such as in Australia. The contract with Pacific Hydro puts us in a very good position for more projects 'Down Under'.”

Rob Grant, CEO of Pacific Hydro, adds: “We are pleased to be signing an agreement with REpower for the supply of 29 wind turbines for our Portland development and we hope this order represents the start of a mutually beneficial relationship in the years to come.”

REpower is represented on the red continent by its subsidiary REpower Australia Pty. Ltd. It has already successfully completed its first project with the installation of the Wonthaggi Windfarm at the end of 2005 – the turnkey installation of a wind farm with a total rated power of 12 megawatts, comprising six type MM82 turbines. The Wonthaggi wind farm is located in South Gippsland, around 100 kilometres south-east of Melbourne.
