Suzlon Windenergie GmbH announces takeover offer for shares of REpower Systems AG

Hamburg, 09 February 2007. Suzlon Windenergie GmbH announced today its intention to make a counteroffer to the takeover offer for REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) released by the French AREVA S.A. on 5 February 2007. The counteroffer by Suzlon Windenergie – an affiliated company of the Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy Ltd. and the Portuguese steel construction company Martifer – represents a cash offer of EUR 126.00 per share (which corresponds to a market capital of EUR 1.02 billion).

As REpower Systems AG does not yet dispose of the offer documents, the Management Board is at present not yet in the position to comment on the offer made by Suzlon Windenergie GmbH, especially with regard to its implication for employees, company sites or customers.
