Reducing CO2 Emissions by up to 40 percent using Trigeneration Power Plants - M+W Zander at the Hannover Messe

Hannover/Stuttgart, 13 April 2007 - M+W Zander FE GmbH based in Stuttgart is presenting solutions for decentralized energy systems at the Hannover Messe 2007 from April 16 to 20. In view of the current debate about more efficient energy supply and reduction of CO2 emissions, the plant constructor is proposing that large industrial plants and local-authority utilities transfer to highly efficient trigeneration (electricity, heat and cooling). Visitors to trade fair stand E52 in Hall 13 also receive a wide range of information about photovoltaic and solar thermal energy systems, geothermal power, and about plants for generating energy from biomass and the production of biofuels.

A trigeneration power station can be fired using fossil fuels and renewable energy sources. The high level of efficiency of up to 85 percent is achieved by using the heat produced during the generation of electricity to supply a plant with steam, heat and cooling. CO2 emissions may be reduced by up to 40 percent compared with conventional power plants based on natural gas. Another advantage of in-house energy supply centers: They make production independent of power failures and fluctuations in the supply of electricity from the public electricity grid.

Since 1970, M+W Zander has been active in the energy sector worldwide. The services supplied range from designing a complete plant, through support for the approval process, project coordination and realization, to turnkey handover including documentation and customer training. M+W Zander is currently building a cogeneration power plant in Romania and an existing energy supply center is being expanded for a major company. M+W Zander also advises companies on the reduction of CO2 emissions.

M+W Zander FE GmbH is a company in the globally acting M+W Zander Group operating in Europe and the Mediterranean area. The range of services comprises planning and construction of high-tech plants for customers from semiconductor and flat-screen production, the photovoltaic industry and the energy sector. In the photovoltaic sector and the semiconductor industry, the company numbers among the market leaders for planning and turnkey construction of production facilities. In the year 2005, the M+W Zander Group generated a turnover of approximately 1.5 billion euros with a 7000-strong workforce worldwide (http://www.mw-zander.com).
