M+W Zander and NOVATEC BioSol: Cooperation agreement to build solar thermal power stations in Spain

Stuttgart/Karlsruhe - NOVATEC BioSol AG, Karlsruhe, and M+W Zander FE GmbH, Stuttgart, have concluded a joint-venture contract. The goal is to join forces and build solar thermal power stations in Spain.

The agreement initially comprises the construction of three solar power stations in southern Spain. These are currently in the approval phase. Each of the solar power stations is planned with an output of around 30 megawatts. Concrete negotiations are currently taking place with several investors. It is planned to begin with realization of the first plant within 2007.

NOVATEC BioSol Board Member Martin Selig commented at signature of contract: "This contract enables NOVATEC BioSol AG to focus more strongly on its core competence, volume production of solar field elements and setting up turnkey solar fields for direct steam generation".

The Speaker of the Board of Managing Directors of M+W Zander FE Europe, Dr. Günter Schneider, added: "This cooperation enables us to transfer our long track record of experience in planning and construction of power plants to the market of solar thermal energy generation which is currently undergoing dynamic growth."
