REpower and EDF EN conclude framework agreement for Europe and the US about 690 MW
- Total volume of incoming orders of single contracts and framework agreements is above the 1,500 MW announced in July
Hamburg - REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) and its existing client EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) – a subsidiary of Europe’s biggest utility EDF – have concluded contracts about the delivery of wind energy turbines with a total rated power of up to 690 megawatts (MW) for projects in Europe and the US, of which 400 MW have already been agreed upon and 290 MW were fixed as a further expected option.
The transaction of such intercontinental delivery contracts – in this case, for projects in Europe as well as in the US – is a premiere for REpower. According to this, REpower wind energy turbines of the MM series (each with 2 MW rated power) in a 50 Hz as well as 60 Hz version, which correspond to the requirements of the American market, are included in the agreement. The installation period of the projects is scheduled for 2009 and 2010.
The contracting party of REpower in the US is the project developer enXco which belongs to EDF EN and with which REpower is already collaborating for US wind farm projects like Goodnoe Hills (Washington State).
Prof. Dr. Fritz Vahrenholt, CEO of REpower Systems AG, appreciates the extensive framework agreement: "This contract continues the hitherto good cooperation between REpower and EDF EN which began in 2004."
He adds: "Furthermore, I am happy to inform that we have considerably exceeded our expected incoming orders with a total volume of at least 1,500 MW, announced in our comment of July. This corresponds to a total order volume of more than EUR 1.5 billion."
