PNE WIND AG awarded a contract in the CfD tendering process for the Tralorg wind farm in the United Kingdom
Cuxhaven/Glasgow - The Tralorg wind farm, which is being developed by PNE WIND UK, the Edinburgh-based Joint Venture of the international wind farm project developer PNE WIND AG, has completed an important step towards its realisation. The project is located in Scotland and was awarded a CfD (Contract for Difference) by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) of the British government. In the United Kingdom, CfDs are the fundamental basis of the wind power remuneration system and are awarded in a competitive bidding process.
PNE WIND UK submitted the Tralorg wind farm to the first CfD tendering round in the United Kingdom and was one of only 15 onshore wind farms that obtained a contract. Having been awarded the CfD, nothing stands in the way of the project being realised in 2018.
The planning activities for the Tralorg wind farm started in 2010. Consent for the project near Girvan in South Ayrshire, Scotland was issued in February 2014. Eight wind power turbines with a nominal capacity of 20 MW can be erected at the site.
“The many years of preparatory work of our colleagues in Brighton and Edinburgh have paid off. Being awarded the CfD in the tendering process is good news and illustrates the high quality of our project development’s team work”, says Markus Lesser, Chief Operating Officer at PNE WIND AG.
Currently, PNE WIND UK is active developing wind farm projects with a nominal capacity of approx. 1,169 MW. From these projects, many are in the final stages of the approval process.
