A eletricidade da nova central nuclear britânica Hinkley Point C custa mais de 15 cêntimos por quilowatt-hora
© EDFMünster (renewablepress) - A construção da nova central nuclear britânica Hinkley Point C sofreu um atraso e será significativamente mais cara do que o previsto para a empresa francesa de energia nuclear EDF. Mas não só os custos de construção das duas novas unidades da central nuclear, com uma capacidade combinada de cerca de 3.280 MW, estão a aumentar drasticamente, como também os clientes britânicos de eletricidade estão agora a enfrentar aumentos consideráveis dos custos da energia nuclear gerada nas suas facturas de eletricidade, de acordo com o Fórum Económico Internacional para as Energias Renováveis (IWR) em Münster.
"O custo da eletricidade gerada pela nova central nuclear britânica Hinkley Point C será bem superior a 15 cêntimos/kWh no início previsto e, portanto, muito acima do preço de mercado da eletricidade", afirmou o CEO da IWR, Dr. Norbert Allnoch, em Münster. Esta informação baseia-se em dados do registo britânico de CFD.

Esta informação baseia-se em dados do registo britânico de CFD.
O Governo britânico tinha inicialmente acordado um preço de exercício inicial garantido de 89,50 libras esterlinas/MWh (10,3 cêntimos/kWh) com o fabricante e construtor francês das centrais nucleares, a EDF, para a energia nuclear da nova central nuclear de Hinley Point C, com base no modelo de contrato por diferença (CFD). A tarifa mínima inicial de £89,50 /MWh (10,3 cêntimos/kWh) é um preço inicial que aumenta com a taxa de inflação britânica. Se o atual preço de mercado da eletricidade na bolsa for inferior à tarifa mínima dinamicamente crescente para a energia nuclear, os clientes britânicos de eletricidade devem suportar a diferença de custos.
Os dados mais recentes do registo de CFDs em 1 de setembro de 2023 mostram que o preço mínimo de remuneração atual (preço de exercício atual) já subiu para 128,09 libras esterlinas/MWh (14,8 cêntimos/kWh). Trata-se de um aumento de custos de mais de 43%, mas atualmente não se vislumbra o fim da espiral dinâmica dos custos da energia nuclear britânica.

De acordo com o registo CFD, o arranque da primeira unidade da central nuclear (C 1) está previsto para 1 de junho de 2027, seguido da unidade C2 em 1 de junho de 2028. Assumindo uma taxa de inflação anual britânica de 3% e sem mais atrasos na construção, o preço da energia nuclear produzida a partir de Hinkley Point C já aumentaria para 16,7 cêntimos/kWh na data de arranque em 2027.
