CO2-Ausstoß: China überholt USA im Jahr 2008
- 2006: 30 Milliarden Tonnen CO2-Ausstoß weltweit / China stößt pro Jahr rd. 500 Mio. t zusätzlich aus –
Münster (iwr-pressedienst) - Das anhaltend hohe Wirtschaftswachstum in Ländern wie China und Indien wird nach Einschätzung des Internationalen Wirtschaftsforums Regenerative Energien (IWR) in Münster den weltweiten Ausstoß an Treibhausgasen auch im Jahr 2006 weiter nach oben treiben. Von 2001 bis 2005 ist der globale Ausstoß nach den vorläufigen Angaben des Bundeswirtschaftsministeriums von 24,9 Mrd. auf 29,2 Mrd. Tonnen CO2 pro Jahr gestiegen. Während danach in den USA die CO2-Emissionen von 6,3 Mrd. (Jahr: 2001) auf 6,5 Mrd. Tonnen (Jahr: 2005) kletterten, ist in China eine Steigerung von 2,8 Mrd. (Jahr: 2001) auf 5,3 Mrd. Tonnen im Jahr 2005 und damit um rd. 90 Prozent zu verzeichnen. "In China ist der Ausstoß des klimaschädlichen Kohlendioxids seit 2001 im Durchschnitt um rd. 500 Mio. Tonnen pro Jahr gestiegen, d.h. jedes Jahr erreichen die zusätzlichen chinesischen Emissionen die Größenordnung eines Industrielandes wie Italien", sagte IWR-Direktor Dr. Norbert Allnoch. Wenn dieser Trend ungebremst anhält, dann hat China die USA in dieser Disziplin im Jahr 2008 überholt. Im Jahr 2006 könnte der weltweite CO2-Ausstoß erstmals die Marke von 30 Milliarden Tonnen erreichen, so das IWR.
