Windenergie weltweit: 2008 erstmals über 100.000 Megawatt
Münster (iwr-pressedienst) - In immer mehr Ländern der Erde erzeugen Windkraftanlagen Strom. Im Jahr 2008 überschreitet die Gesamtleistung aller produzierenden Windkraftanlagen erstmals die Marke von 100.000 Megawatt (MW), teilte das Internationale Wirtschaftsforum Regenerative Energien (IWR) in Münster mit. Die Stromerzeugung steigt auf über 200 Milliarden (Mrd.) Kilowattstunden. Seit 1990 hat sich die weltweite Nutzung der Windenergie stürmisch entwickelt. Es brauchte zehn Jahre, um die globale Windkraftleistung von insgesamt 2.000 MW (1990) auf fast 18.000 MW (2000) zu steigern. "Heute kann dieser Zubau von 16.000 MW Windkraftleistung auch dank der technischen Entwicklung zu immer leistungsstärkeren Großanlagen innerhalb eines einzigen Jahres realisiert werden", sagte IWR-Direktor Dr. Norbert Allnoch.
Der bisherige Trend zur Entwicklung immer größerer Anlagen auch oberhalb der jetzigen 5 MW-Spitzenklasse wird anhalten. Die internationalen Perspektiven für den Windmarkt mit einem Jahresvolumen von derzeit rd. 20 Mrd. Euro sind weiterhin sehr positiv. "Das US-Department of Energy (DOE) hat jetzt in einer aktuellen Studie ein Szenario bis 2030 vorgestellt, in dem die Windenergie 20 Prozent des US-Stromverbrauchs abdeckt. Im Falle der tatsächlichen Umsetzung würden allein für die USA bis 2030 Windkraftanlagen mit einer Leistung von fast 300.000 MW benötigt", so Allnoch.
