China alcanza unos niveles récord de emisión de gases de efecto invernadero
Münster – Durante el año 2007, la emisión de gases de efecto invernadero en China ha aumentado hasta alcanzar la cifra récord de aprox. 6.400 millones de toneladas (2006: aprox. 5.900 millones). Esto, según el Foro Económico Internacional de las Energías Renovables (IWR), significa un aumento de aprox. 500 millones de toneladas respecto a la cifra registrada el año anterior. Según los cálculos actuales, los Estados Unidos, con aprox. 6.600 millones de toneladas (2006: aprox. 6.500 millones), se encuentran sólo ligeramente por detrás de China en la lista de países emisores de gases de efecto invernadero. Durante el año 2007, se emitieron en todo el mundo un total de aprox. 30.900 millones de toneladas de gases de efecto invernadero (la cifra más alta jamás registrada), muy nocivos para el medio ambiente.
"Actualmente, más del 40% de las emisiones anuales de CO2 corresponden a sólo dos países: los Estados Unidos y China", manifestó el director del IWR, el Dr. Norbert Allnoch. Según los pronósticos del IWR, mientras que la emisión de CO2 en los Estados Unidos sólo va aumentando a un ritmo lento, el continuo crecimiento que se registra en China situará el país asiático como el principal emisor de gases de efecto invernadero ya en 2008.
