Big celebration at juwi draws 7,000 guests

Project developer hosts triple-header event: dedication of new office complex, company open house and new brand design presentation

Woerrstadt - With great energy, the juwi Group continues to drive the company’s growth. With construction completed in just five months, the renewable energy project development company opened its new office complex in Wörrstadt, Germany. This gives juwi the space to create another 100 jobs at the company headquarters. The official dedication ceremony was held in the morning with around 400 invited guests and was followed by a celebration open to the public in the afternoon - which turned into quite a festival: some 7,000 people came out to Energie-Allee 1 in Wörrstadt - twice as many as expected.

The success story of the German renewable energy project development company can also be seen in the new brand design, which juwi founders and co-CEOs Matthias Willenbacher and Fred Jung presented to the public for the first time. “This day demonstrates the enormous dynamics here at juwi. Renewable energies are the future – and we are playing a major part in shaping that future,” said Willenbacher.

It was only in July 2008 that juwi moved its headquarters, with about 360 people, to Wörrstadt. But the company has grown so quickly that the office complex was soon bursting at the seams and needed an additional wing. “In 2009 alone we will increase our staff by about 250 people worldwide. At the Wörrstadt headquarters our numbers will grow to 500 this year,” added Jung. The job of building the eco-friendly wood frame office building again went to the well known timber construction specialist Griffner in Austria. Griffner also built the first office complex for juwi. Made up of three modules, that prefabricated building is the world’s most energy-efficient office building and was awarded the German Climate Protection Prize in 2008.

At the open house, visitors had the opportunity to experience the world of renewable energies: Following an energy parcours they went on a journey of discovery, unearthed the secrets of the world\'s most energy-efficient office building, and learned at various information stands about wind, solar and bio energy, as well as the “100% renewables” campaign. Local organizations were also present to introduce themselves, and there were many games and other attractions for the children.

The new brand design is in response to the juwi Group’s dynamic growth. “juwi is becoming an unmistakable international brand in a growing competitive field. We want to demonstrate what we stand for at juwi more clearly in the future than we have so far. We are passionate about bringing renewable energies into the mainstream, economically and reliably, together with the people,” explained Willenbacher.

The future brand design includes, among other things, a new logo, new colors, new letterhead – in short, a completely new corporate design – as well as a new slogan: Energy is here. “With this new claim we want to convey that renewable energies have already largely achieved market readiness and that nothing is stopping them as far as technology from going mainstream. The potential is here, the technology is here, and companies like juwi have the references to prove that we can already create a climate-neutral, safe, secure and independent energy supply today,” added Jung.

About the juwi Group

The juwi Group (http://www.juwi.de) was founded in 1996 by Matthias Willenbacher and Fred Jung. Together, they have transformed the company from a two-person operation focusing on wind farm project development into an internationally active group with around 600 employees and an annual turnover of more than 600 million Euros. In addition to solar power and bio energy, juwi also specializes in wind and water power as well as geothermal energy. To date, juwi has installed more than 350 wind turbines producing a total output of over 500 megawatts, while in the solar sector, juwi has built more than 1,000 PV systems with a total capacity of about 300 megawatts. The Group has subsidiaries in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, the United States and Costa Rica. Willenbacher and Jung also share a common goal: an energy supply from purely regenerative sources - 100% commitment to 100% renewable energies. The \"100% renewables\" campaign embodies this goal.
