- Renewable energy specialist establishes a subsidiary in Bangalore and plans the construction of solar power plants with a total capacity in excess of 100 megawatts

Delhi/Bangalore/Wörrstadt - The juwi-Group, one of the leading project developers for renewable energies, has established a subsidiary in India and thereby further intensifies its constantly growing international business activities. The subsidiary \"juwi India Renewable Energies Pvt. Ltd.\" is headquartered in Bangalore, known as the IT-capital of India. From 2011 on the company will realize solar power facilities in India. Photovoltaic (PV) projects with a total capacity in excess of 100 megawatts (MW) are scheduled to be installed in the coming years.

juwi India Renewable Energies will realize photovoltaic power projects all over India and the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries. In the beginning, these projects will be turnkey projects in which the company acts as the general contractor for the design, engineering and construction of free-field and roof-top solar installations. In addition, juwi is going to develop photovoltaic projects in India, covering the entire process - from acquisition of suitable land to the completion of the power plant.

\"India currently provides excellent conditions for the solar industry and the country has the most attractive market in all of Asia. As one of the leading developers, juwi’s opportunities there are outstanding. 100 percent renewable energies are possible – now and not in the far future,\" states Rajesh Bhat, President of the juwi subsidiary in India. \"If the conditions remain that attractive or even continue to improve, we will certainly create a lot of new jobs in our Indian offices. Our activities in India will remarkably contribute to a change towards global sustainability to the benefit of present and future generations,\" say Amiram Roth-Deblon and Dirk Lamottke, Directors of juwi India Renewable Energies.

Within the scope of the \"Global Climate Change Initiative\", the Indian government is planning to increase the total installed capacity of solar energy to 20,000 MW in the year 2022. Based on the promising conditions in India and juwi’s rich expertise in developing and implementing renewable energy projects worldwide - with one of the largest PV-Plants in Germany (53 MW) - \"juwi India Renewable Energies\" already expects strong growth within the next two years. Further regional offices on the territory of India are possible. juwi showcases itself for the first time in India at the exhibition running alongside the Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference (DIREC). The foundation of a subsidiary in India is not the first new market entry for juwi’s solar business in 2010. This year the project developer already has entered into the promising solar markets of Slovakia and Bulgaria.

In addition to solar, wind and bio energy, juwi also specializes in hydropower as well as geothermal energy. To date, juwi has installed more than 400 wind turbines producing a total output of over 650 megawatts, while in the solar sector; juwi has built more than 1,400 PV systems with a total capacity of over 600 megawatts.
