RENIXX World rises by 15% in the first quarter 2011
Muenster - The global stock index for renewable energies rose strongly in the first quarter of 2011. RENIXX World, which consists of 30 international stocks, has risen by nearly 15% since the beginning of the year, informed IWR, a renewable energy institute, in Münster. Two thirds of the individual renewable energy stocks represented in the index have appreciated by more than 10%. The highest gains in the RENIXX World were achieved by the SolarWorld shares, which rose by 54%, followed by Nordex (+40%), Meyer Burger (+38%), Vestas (+30%), SMA (+27%) and Gamesa (+26%).
\"The national and international effects of the reactor disaster in Japan are currently unforeseeable for the sector,\" said IWR Director Dr. Norbert Allnoch. \"It will also take until at least 2012 until the current pro renewable energies sentiment may turn into specific operating business,\" continues Allnoch. An indication for the reserved assessment of German businesses is the development of business sentiment. The company survey was conducted in March already after the disaster in Fukushima. Although the business climate index rose strongly from 93.8 (February 2011) to 97.5 in March, companies are still far from being enthusiastic (values in excess of 110 points). Scepticism over government policy is also widespread: 60% of the companies surveyed from the renewables sector currently do not yet believe that Germany’s old nuclear power plants will be switched off permanently.
