Wind energy: On safe ground!

- Subsoil Analysis, Ground Improvement and Wind Turbine Foundations
- 6th International Conference with international speakers

Essen - The bearing capacity of the soil site and the design of the foundation to suit specific soil conditions determine the stability of wind energy converters. Extensive experience is required, however, to properly evaluate the geotechnical suitability of potential sites for WECs and to work out what kind of foundation will be required in particular circumstances. Unfortunately, the geological site conditions and the bearing capacity of the soil on site are not always taken into due consideration when looking for new locations for wind turbines. Reality and physics catch up later, often shortly before the erection of the turbine or when the turbine has already been erected. Money invested into thorough preparation and planning is money well spent. Site-specific optimisation of the WEC foundations and soil improvement procedures help avoid undesirable outcomes. Failure to invest into prior comprehensive soil investigation comes expensive in the end.

The 6th conference on Subsoil Analysis, Ground Improvement and Wind Turbine Foundations will take place in Essen on 3rd and 4th December 2015. The event aims at providing the attendees with an in-depth analysis of various subsoil investigation approaches and soil improvement measures. Different wind energy converter foundation systems will be discussed.

Speakers from the following organisations will give presentations:

German Hydraulic Engineering Agency BAW (Bundesanstalt für Wasserbau); GB Geotechnics Ltd. Cambridge, England; ALIOS Ingénierie, Canejan, France; CTE Wind civil engineering, Dinard, France; Hochschule Ruhr West, Mülheim; Geoplan GmbH, Weimar; CentrumPfähle GmbH, Hamburg; FRANKI Grundbau GmbH & Co. KG, Seevetal; GSP – Gesellschaft für Schwingungsuntersuchungen und dynamische Prüfmethoden mbH, Mannheim; Fugro Consult GmbH, Berlin; Gamesa, (Zamudio) Vizcaja, Spain; Geogrupė, Vilnius, Litauen; Ménard, Nozay, France; Tensar International GmbH, Lübbecke.

This is an international conference. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

This time conference fees are structured as follows: the second and further participants from any company will be entitled to a 50% discount. An exhibition to showcase industry-related devices and equipment will round off the conference. So far Tensar International GmbH, HUESKER Synthetic GmbH, NAUE GmbH & Co. KG have booked exhibition space.
