Berlin (renewablepress) - Qualitas Energy, a global investment and management platform focused on renewable energy, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure investment, has reached a significant milestone in the Sebbenhausen wind project with the approval for the construction of four wind turbines, which will boast enhanced efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Located in the Lower Saxony municipality, the wind farm currently consists of eight turbines, contributing to Qualitas Energy’s extensive portfolio of over 3 GW of wind power in Germany. Four of these wind turbines have already been in operation since 2004. The remaining four turbines were built in 2005. With a total capacity of 16 MW, the farm has been producing renewable wind power for more than 9,000 households ever since.

Having obtained the approval, Qualitas Energy intends to replace the existing eight turbines with four cutting-edge 6 MW turbines that offer increased power and reduced emissions. By undertaking this strategic move, Qualitas Energy will be able to achieve a substantial increase in the output of the Sebbenhausen wind farm. As a result of this progressive development, over 16,000 households will receive environmentally friendly electricity in the future. Additionally, this serves as a compelling example of the significant potential that wind turbine repowering holds for the success of the energy transition.

“Our team is fully dedicated to ensuring the success of the energy transition”, says Borja Caruana, Managing Director of Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH. “By strategically implementing turbine repowering and transparently incorporating local interests throughout the project development process, we not only enhance the profitability of our initiatives but also remain committed to improving the local community environment and further investing in new projects to accelerate the energy transition in Germany. Whether independently or in collaboration with our cooperation partners, we will continue to drive these endeavors towards success,” he emphasizes.

Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH is part of the Qualitas Energy Group, which is committed to driving the change towards a decarbonized economy and focused on the acquisition, financing, project development, construction, and operation of onshore wind turbines with a team of more than 200 employees at its offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Wiesbaden, Trier, and soon also in Stuttgart and Cologne.
