Constant in turbulent times: wpd gets an A-rating again

Bremen - Euler Hermes Rating GmbH (a member of Allianz Group) again rates wpd AG’s reliability and sustainability with the rating notation "A" in 2008. The company is thus rated as strongly above average in comparison to the total economy. "We are pleased with the renewed strong rating on the part of the rating company. Especially in view of the current turbulences in the financial markets, this is a confirmation of the work of all the wpd team," Dr. Gernot Blanke, member of the Board of Directors, comments.

As a leading wind energy company, wpd group has been able to achieve exceedingly good results in Germany and Europe. Overall, the rating highlights the company’s long-term strategic positioning in the various international markets: With the successful acquisition of the project developing company EnerSys and the strengthening of the Board of Directors by Dr. Hartmut Brösamle in 2006, access was made possible to further international markets and further projecting know-how has been tied into the group. By clearly positioning itself as international project developer with the home market in Germany in the sector of wind energy onshore as well as offshore and the increase in the inventory of self-operated wind farms to 350 MW at the end of 2008, wpd is one of the leading wind energy companies in Europe.
