Accidente de Chernobil, 1986: Crisis y regeneración
Münster – El accidente del reactor de Chernobil hace 25 años contribuyó de manera fundamental al posterior desarrollo mundial de las energías renovables. Sin embargo, no fue algo inmediato tras el accidente de la central nuclear en Ucrania, sino que se produjo con cierto retraso, según informa el instituto alemán IWR de energías renovables de Münster. “En 1986, no era posible abandonar la energía nuclear sin más, porque no existía tecnología alternativa competente. Hoy las cosas son distintas”, explicaba el director del IWR, el Dr. Norbert Allnoch, con motivo del 25º aniversario de la catástrofe nuclear de Chernobil.
El accidente de Chernobil condujo a una serie de medidas políticas en Alemania, entre finales de los ochenta y principios de los noventa, para desarrollar las energías renovables. Además del programa 250 MW de viento y el programa 1.000 tejados fotovoltaicos, el elemento decisivo para alcanzar el desarrollo actual fue la ley de suministro eléctrico que entró en vigor el 1 de enero de 1991 (precursora de la ley de energías renovables). Los pequeños parques eólicos de antaño de entre 30 y 150 kilovatios, se han convertido en la actualidad en modernas instalaciones con entre 3 y 7 megavatios (MW) de potencia. Los costes solares por kilovatio (kW) de potencia instalada han bajado un 90% desde 1990.
“Tras la catástrofe de Fukushima, también esperamos nuevos impulsos a medio plazo para las energías renovables, pero habrá reacciones políticas" apunta el Dr. Allnoch de forma optimista para la rama renovable.
